Construction digital twins

A measurable, navigable site record for design reviews, coordination, progress checks and handover.

Walk it. Measure it. Discuss it. Wherever you are.

Give the project team more than a folder of disconnected photographs. A Matterport digital twin creates a navigable spatial record of the captured site, so stakeholders can revisit visible conditions, check dimensions, attach information to specific locations and review the same area remotely. Repeat captures can document key stages from strip-out and first fix through fit-out and completion.

  • Measure walls, openings, heights and clearances directly in the captured space
  • Schematic floor plans, BIM, CAD and E57 outputs available to suit the brief
  • Tags for documents, specifications, links, photographs and video
  • Team Notes for comments, attachments and location-specific discussions
  • Repeat captures for before, during and after comparisons
  • Remote walkthroughs for coordination, inspection preparation and handover

MEASURE THE CAPTURED SPACE

Check dimensions without returning to site.

Open the digital twin in a browser and take measurements directly from the captured environment. Check wall runs, openings, ceiling heights and clearances while keeping the measurement in its visual context.

Digital-twin measurements are a practical remote reference. Where a project requires survey-grade control, setting-out or statutory verification, the appropriate specialist survey information should still be used.

LIVE MEASUREMENTS IN CONTEXT

See the dimensions inside the space.

Measurement tools stay attached to the recorded environment, so the team can understand size, clearance and position while looking directly at the captured room. This makes remote reviews more practical than checking detached notes or isolated photographs.

Live room measurements shown directly within the digital twin, keeping size and location visible together.

ONE CAPTURE. MULTIPLE OUTPUTS.

Turn the site record into usable project information.

Choose the outputs that fit the next stage of the job. Deliverables can be scoped before capture so the right areas, level of detail and file formats are covered.

01

Floor plans

Schematic floor plans give teams and clients a clear 2D reference generated from the captured property.

02

BIM

Use captured as-built conditions as the basis for BIM deliverables that can support renovation, documentation and design workflows.

03

E57 & point-cloud data

Provide spatial data for compatible design and coordination workflows where an E57 or point-cloud deliverable is required.

04

CAD outputs

Extend the capture into CAD-based documentation where the project brief calls for editable technical drawings.

KEEP THE CONTEXT ATTACHED TO THE SPACE

Tags, Notes, images and video.

The digital twin can become a shared visual workspace rather than a passive walkthrough. Put information at the exact location it relates to and keep project conversations grounded in the captured site.

Information Tags

Pin specifications, document links, photographs, video, installation guidance or handover information to the relevant object or location.

Team Notes

Invited collaborators can add location-specific comments, attachments and discussion threads so questions remain connected to the place being discussed.

Inspection context

Add photographs or video to record an issue, a completed repair, a point requiring inspection or something that should be reviewed before the next visit.

Before & after

Repeat captures create a dated visual record of change, helping the team compare stages without relying on isolated photographs from different viewpoints.

EXPLORE A DIGITAL TWIN

Open the site and look around for yourself.

Move through the captured space, change viewpoints and see how an immersive site record keeps individual details connected to the wider building.

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

Construction Digital Twins in Practice

The capture and deliverables are shaped around the people using them and the decision, review or communication task they need to support.

Contractors & consultants

Review captured conditions remotely, revisit areas before meetings and retain visible details before services or construction elements are concealed.

Developers, funders & project leads

Use dated captures as a shared visual reference for progress discussions, milestone reviews and questions that would otherwise require another site visit.

Handover & future works

Retain a navigable record of completed conditions that can support handover, later refurbishment planning and facilities discussions alongside formal project records.
